Duty updates 2007

The season has got off to a start at our new location but we are still striving to organise a permanent shelter, ie, a shed! the last few weekends have included assisting windsurfers to shore and generally keeping an eye on the harbour in general. We are still trying to secure more of our members into doing active duty as it's a great way to get used to driving the rib and being part of the team in real situations, after all, its what we've been training for...
Any questions about dutys? Contact or txt Shaun on 0787 190 6077.

Base provided for lifeguards ( Dorset Evening Echo 6/8/07 )

Volunteer lifeguards on Portland have finally been given an operational base thanks to a windsurfing shop.
Boscawen lifesaving & Rescue Club have been given the use of Windtek's slip launch and facilities at the Weymouth & Portland Sailing Academy after a three year search.
Windtek's shop assistant, Richard Fabbri, 38, of Chickerell, said the shop was happy to help the lifeguards so they have a permanent base to operate from.
He said: "The Boscawen lifeguards have wanted a base to operate from for ages but couldn't find anyone to help them so anything we could do to contribute to the safety of the harbour the better."
